‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp posted a photo of him and his best friend Robert Downey Jr. but then quickly deleted it to replace it with a real photo.
Johnny Depp was as excited as many of Robert Downey Jr.’s fans and friends. about actor Iron Man ‘s first Oscar win on March 10. However, choosing Johnny Depp’s photo to celebrate this event is considered not very wise.

The 60-year-old actor posted a photo of him and Robert Downey Jr. youth took to Instagram Story to celebrate the victory. But actually this is a photoshopped photo. Original photo of Robert Downey Jr. with his girlfriend at the time, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, at an event in Los Angeles, November 1988. According to EW , the edited photo (replacing Sarah with Johnny) appears to be from a fan account and has been circulating on fanpages since 2021.
Johnny Depp or his social media team quickly realized the mistake and replaced it with a recent real photo of the actor with Robert Downey Jr.. He wrote in the caption: “Try again… Congratulations My dear friend”.
Many fans discovered this incident of Johnny Depp and teased the actor online. One person praised Johnny for his photoshop skills with a funny caption: “Maybe Kate Middleton should hire Johnny Depp to edit her photos” – referring to the scandal that revealed over-edited photos of the Princess of Wales earlier this week.
Although Johnny Depp’s first photo with Robert Downey Jr. is fake, the friendship between the two actors is completely genuine. The two actors have not acted in any movies together but have been close since the 1990s until now. Johnny once said in an interview that he and Robert had “known each other for a million years”. “We came up through the ranks together in a strange way back in the 1980s and went through a lot of the same things. I always admired him and we had a very good relationship,” Johnny said.
