In a recent interview with Variety, famous producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared about the future of the two popular film franchises he is behind, Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean.
As for Top Gun, Bruckheimer said part 3 of the series will need more time to make because male lead Tom Cruise is currently busy with many other projects. He said: “It’s really hard to say.
You don’t know how to make everything fall into place. Because with Top Gun, you have an iconic and brilliant actor. But I can’t reveal who he is.” How many other movies do I have to do before I go back to filming Top Gun?
Johnny Depp appeared in all five “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.
Meanwhile, Bruckheimer confirmed that the Pirates of the Caribbean film series will be rebooted without the participation of male lead Johnny Depp. He shared: “We will reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. This is easier to do because we don’t have to wait for any actors.”
This statement means that Johnny Depp and iconic character Jack Sparrow will not return in the new version of Pirates of the Caribbean. This is not surprising, because Depp himself announced that he would not cooperate with Disney after the noisy lawsuit with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Previously, Johnny Depp played the main role in all 5 Pirates of the Caribbean movies, bringing in an impressive total revenue of up to 4.5 billion USD. In 2020, it was reported that Disney was developing two new pirate movies with the participation of actress Margot Robbie. However, this idea did not receive support from fans and was eventually canceled.
