Fans don’t like the idea of Margot Robbie potentially helming the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise instead of Johnny Depp.

Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow and Margot Robbie

Johnny Depp has acted and aced the many roles he has essayed throughout his career. But Captain Jack Sparrow will remain beloved by his and his fans for the way he molded and shaped it from the ground up. Thus, kickstarting the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the actor is as much to be credited as the writers and crew for the success of the movies.

Yet, after his legal battle with Amber Heard and Disney turning back on him, the actor seems to be done with Hollywood. And producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that as much as he would love to have him back, Disney is planning to make two movies with one of them being helmed by Margot Robbie.

Margot Robbie, not Johnny Depp, to Lead the Pirates of The Caribbean Franchise?

Ask any Pirates of the Caribbean fan, and they would feel the franchise would have reached nowhere had it not been for the magnificence of Johnny Depp. While there have been reports that the actor might return to the pirate world again (see People), after being brutally dropped by Disney and other studios in the midst of his legal troubles, nothing really seems to be conclusive.

Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer, revealed that the studio is planning to make two different Pirates films. In his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bruckheimer remarked that one of them is a reboot and another one is a separate movie starring Margot Robbie.

It’s two different movies. We hope to get ’em both made, and I think Disney remarked that he would love to have Johnny Depp back since he was the one who created Captain Jack. Yet that does not seem to be happening anytime soon, and the studio is busy making two different films, both sort of reboots of the original franchise.

Although Margot Robbie-starrer Pirates of the Caribbean is still in development, there is a possibility that the Barbie star might be helming the franchise moving forward. And as this news made rounds, this is how fans reacted.

While the majority of fans stated they wouldn’t be watching a Pirates film without Depp, some fans remarked that Margot Robbie might actually do the franchise justice.

The possibility of Johnny Depp being replaced by Margot Robbie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has sparked mixed reactions among fans. While it is clear that Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow has left an indelible mark on the franchise, some fans are open to the idea of Robbie leading the franchise.

With the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean series remaining uncertain, only time will tell how Disney’s attempt to reboot the franchise will fare in the future.
