Dua Lipa was a knockout in purple this week.
The 5ft8in singer from London has debuted her swimwear designs that she worked on with Donatella Versace for the famed Italian fashion house Versace.
The brunette beauty wore a skimpy string ʙικιɴι that made the most of her incredible figure while in an outdoor setting by apartment buildings.
She stood by a vintage cotton candy pink Cadillac convertible as she wore high heels and held onto a purse.
The images were shared to Instagram on Thursday with fans calling the sH๏τs ‘stunning’ and ‘really sᴇxʏ.’
The 27-year-old pop star wrote in the caption, ‘Vacanza season is approaching!!! ~ sH๏τ by @carlijnjacobs for my @versace “La Vacanza” collection co-designed by myself and @donatella_versace.’
She wore several necklaces, a belly chain and bracelets for a very decadent look.
Earlier this month she was seen in a dress for Versace as she reclined on a lounger. And she has worn the designer many times in the past – both on the red carpet and in magazine shoots
This comes after Lipa’s ‘Levitating’ copyright infringement case was dismissed.
The star’s 2020 mega-hit was accused of ripping off Artikal Sound System’s 2017 reggae single ‘Live Your Life’, with the singer and her label Warner Records sued.
The band said they believe Dua and her team heard their song and came up with a carbon copy in ‘Levitating’. However, on June 7, US District Judge Sunshine Sykes said that Artikal Sound System had no way of proving that Dua and her team had access to their song, Reuters reports.
They are able to file a new lawsuit should they wish to, with their attorney Stewart Levy stating that they are contemplating their next move.
Furthermore, the judge refused to allow them to move the case from Los Angeles to New York, where another ‘Levitating’ copyright case will be heard by songwriters Sandy Linzer and L. Russell Brown.
The pair have claimed their 1979 song ‘Wiggle And Giggle All Night’ and 1980’s ‘Don Diablo’, which were performed by Cory Daye and Miguel Bosé, respectively, also resemble Dua’s chart hit. Documents obtained by Billboard last year noted that: ‘The signature melody is the most listened to and recognisable part of the infringing works and plays a crucial role in their popularity.
‘Because video creators frequently truncate the already brief snippets of sound on TikTok, the signature melody often comprises fifty percent or more of these viral videos.’ The duo accused Dua of having ‘deliberately emulated prior eras’.
Their lawyers added that: ‘In seeking nostalgic inspiration, defendants copied plaintiffs’ creation without attribution. ‘Defendants have levitated away plaintiffs’ intellectual property. Plaintiffs bring suit so that defendants cannot wiggle out of their wilful infringement.’
As well as Dua and Warner, DaBaby, the rapper who featured on a remix of ‘Levitating’, were named in the lawsuit. Dua previously admitted she never expected ‘Levitating’ – which featured on her chart-topping album ‘Future Nostalgia’ – to become such a big hit. She confessed: ‘I can never preempt what song people are going to react to the best but ‘Levitating’ was the first song that helped dictate the rest of the album.’
Lipa has also shard this month been ‘hurt’ by the UK Government’s rhetoric towards Albanian migrants.
The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker was born in London to Kosovan-Albanian parents and hit out at the ‘small-minded’ comments made by ministers such as Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who singled out ‘Albanian criminals’ when discussing immigration last year.
Dua told the Sunday Times newspaper: ‘Of course it hurt. All those words thrown around about immigrants? I always felt London was an amalgamation of cultures. It is integral to the city. So when you hear the government talk about Albanians, for example, it hurts.
‘It’s short-sighted and small-minded, but it’s the way a lot of people think. No matter how we try and change the rhetoric, there will always be those who think, ‘Immigrants are coming into the country and taking jobs!’
‘However, immigrants who have come here have earned their keep by working incredibly hard. There needs to be more empathy, because people don’t leave their country unless they have to out of necessity, out of fear for their family.’
Dua is not afraid to speak up on political issues but is wary of throwing her support behind certain politicians.
The 2star explained: ‘As much as I like being vocal about politics all over the world, I’d stay away from politicians.
‘I just think more carefully about aligning myself with that aspect now. It’s different when I talk about certain rights, but I’ve realised that no matter how much you want to believe someone is a good guy, they end up letting you down.’
Meanwhile, the pop sensation has been delighted by the response to the launch of her book club on her Service95 platform and is thrilled that the project has inspired young people to get reading.
Dua said: ‘I’ve had a great response. People say that their kids started reading because I posted about books. Everything is so bitesize now, but reading takes you from that.
‘It’s cool to encourage younger generations to read, which maybe isn’t instilled in them because of social media. I know reading has been on a decline, but I read everywhere.’
