The producer confirmed the reboot of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” without the participation of actor Johnny Depp.

On March 26 (local time), Variety reported that Jerry Bruckheimer revealed the future of Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean – two popular film franchises he produced.

With Top Gun, part 3 of this series will need to wait a while longer, because male lead Tom Cruise is busy filming many other projects. Meanwhile, the Pirates of the Caribbean project will be restarted without the participation of male lead Johnny Depp.

“It’s really difficult to say. You don’t know how to make things fall into place. Because with Top Gun , you have an iconic and brilliant actor. But I can’t reveal how many other movies he has to do before returning to filming for Top Gun . But we will reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. This is easier to do because you don’t have to wait for any actors,” Bruckheimer shared.

Bruckheimer’s announcement of a reboot without having to wait for any actors means that Johnny Depp and the legendary Jack Sparrow character will not return. Pirates of the Caribbean will likely have a completely new cast. This is not surprising, because Depp himself announced that he would not return to work with Disney after the lawsuit with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Previously, Johnny Depp was the male lead in all 5 Pirates of the Caribbean movies with a total revenue of up to 4.5 billion USD . In 2020, it was reported that Disney was in the development stage of two new pirate movies starring Margot Robbie. However, this did not sit well with fans and the project was later cancelled.
