WNBA star Angel Reese is living the high life—quite literally—in her luxury $8,000-a-month apartment in an upscale Chicago high-rise.
But the 22-year-old basketball pro and social media star now admits her over-the-top lifestyle would not be possible if she was forced to rely on her WNBA salary as her only source of income, revealing that her monthly paycheck doesn’t even cover her rent payments.
In a recent video shared on her Instagram Stories, the Chicago Sky forward joked that she is “living beyond her means,” adding that she actually doesn’t know the amount she makes from her basketball career alone.
“Hatin’ pays them bills baby,” she told her followers. “I just hope y’all know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that doesn’t pays one of my bills.
“Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick … I don’t even know my salary — 74 [thousand]?”
WNBA star Angel Reese has admitted that her Chicago Sky salary does not actually cover the $8,000-a-month rent for her luxury apartment.

The basketball star, who signed with the Chicago-based team during the 2024 WNBA draft, has moved into a luxury apartment in one of the city’s most lavish buildings.

In fact, Reese’s salary for her first season with Chicago Sky was $73,439—which makes up part of the $324,383 four-year contract she signed with the team.
So how, exactly, does she afford the oh, so opulent lifestyle she currently enjoys from her lofty perch on Chicago’s South Loop? Social media stardom and endorsement deals, of course.
During her time as a student (and basketball star) at LSU, Reese had one of the highest NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) valuations of any college athlete—rivaled only by a few major names, including her on-court rival, Caitlin Clark, who has also since joined the WNBA.
In 2023, following her team NCAA championship bout against Iowa (Clark’s college team), Reese’s estimated potential NIL earnings jumped to a staggering $876,000, according to On3. Meanwhile Clark’s soared to $739,000.
Reese has, in recent years, inked a huge number of lucrative deals with big-name brands, including Wingstop, McDonald’s, Raising Cane’s, PlayStation, Amazon, and Coach. According to USA Today, the basketball star earned around $1.7 million from sponsorship deals in 2022 and 2023 alone.
In other words, she’s making more than enough to fork out the $8,000 a month she says her Chicago apartment costs.
And while that sum might seem staggering, Reese has the run of one of the city’s most exclusive and luxurious high-rises.
The building has views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan and is filled with so many luxury amenities you wouldn’t have to leave the building if you didn’t have to.
There’s even a basketball court where Reese can shoot hoops.
And should she wish to try her hand at another sport, she need look no further than the Pilates studio, which is equipped with a Cadillac Reformer and a high ladder barrel.
There is also a spa room for massage and wellness services. A media lounge features a private movie theater with comfortable seating and a surround sound system.
The 22-year-old basketball superstar regularly posts videos and images from inside her home.

Her apartment boasts staggering views of the city, while the building offers a host of incredible amenities.

A lounge space in the building boasts a sports bar with a 98-inch television, a bar, pingpong, skeeball, and access to an enormous terrace.
The building also has a spin studio with Matrix bikes and a television, a squash court, a full-size pro boxing ring, and a state-of-the-art golf simulator.
There’s a pet spa and two dog playrooms, equipped with ramps and outdoor turf—for small and large dogs.
A 75-foot, indoor lap pool with steam rooms, saunas, locker rooms, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city also awaits inside the building.
The outdoor pool and deck is fitted with lounge chairs, daybeds, and spa pools, TVs, Viking barbecue grills, ice makers, and refrigerators.
Kids can frolic in the indoor/outdoor play space, which has a swing and dedicated arts and crafts areas.
The communal chef’s kitchen has a demonstration space with a bar island for eight people, a wine fridge, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, and an adjacent outdoor area with seating and a fireplace.
There’s a private lounge for residents featuring comfortable seating, a kitchenette with a bar, a microwave drawer, dishwasher, an ice maker, mini fridge, and sink; indoor/outdoor fireplace; 12-foot wood millwork ceiling; a pool table; and outdoor lounge-style seating.
For remote work, there is a lounge with park views and conference rooms that are reservable for private use and equipped with screen-sharing capabilities. There’s also on-tap cold brew coffee available 24/7.
The building has a glass-enclosed event space equipped with a catering kitchen and another private bar lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, while the art-filled lobby has a 24-hour concierge and high-speed elevators.
As for Reese’s personal apartment, it sits in a plum corner position in the building, affording her staggering city views.
The open-plan kitchen and living area offer plenty of space for lounging and entertaining, while the basketball pro appears to have created an enormous walk-in closet out of one of the bedrooms.
Reese was selected out of LSU by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft. She made $73,439 in her first season and, according to the rules of the WNBA’s current collective bargaining agreement, is projected to make $74,909 next season.
