Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have enjoyed a fierce rivalry in their first year as WNBA stars, but the Chicago Sky star has made it clear that she would love to link up as team-mates sometime in the future
Angel Reese has openly expressed her aspirations to play alongside WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark in the future.
The 22-year-old rookie made a splash in her debut season with Chicago Sky, shattering the league’s rebound record by pulling down an impressive average of 13.1 per game. Despite her team’s sixth-place finish in the Eastern Conference, Reese also boasted a respectable average of 13.6 points per game and snagged one of the 67 votes for the Rookie of the Year award.
Though her first-year feats were noteworthy, rival player Clark snagged the spotlight with an equally stunning season at Indiana Fever. Amid the on-court banter and fierce competition typical of sports rivalries, Reese has expressed hope for future collaboration with Clark.

In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Reese highlighted that her rivalry with Clark has not only heightened the excitement around the sport but is also likely to continue doing so. She anticipates a day when they will share the court as allies, saying: “And one day, hopefully, we’ll be team-mates.”
This sentiment isn’t new for Reese; she’s previously shared with Women’s Health that their post-game relationship remains amicable, commenting on their professional dynamic with appreciation: “I love that we’re able to compete and still be cool after, regardless of the outside noise.
“When we get between the lines and we’re ready to compete, we just want to win. That’s just the group of women – we always want to win, and we’re strong and super powerful in everything that we do.
” Reese and Clark got a sneak peek of what playing together would be like earlier this year in July, both taking part in the WNBA All-Star game against the United States women’s national team alongside big names like Diana Taurasi, DeWanna Bonner and Breanna Stewart.

The All-Star team ultimately clinched the game 117-109 thanks to an outstanding performance from MVP Arike Ogunbowale, who set a new record with her 34-point scoring spree.
It was a fantastic first season in the WNBA for Clark, who helped Indiana Fever reach their first play-offs since 2016 while smashing numerous records along the way.
The Iowa native dished out the highest number of assists in a single season (337), while sinking a league-best of 122 three-pointers and also becoming the fastest woman to ever hit the 100 three-pointer mark. The young star recorded two triple-doubles while also scoring the most points from her position as a point guard in a single season.
Thanks to her extraordinary efforts, Clark bagged 66 of the 67 total votes to secure the prestigious Rookie of the Year award, with the other vote going to Reese for her own achievements in the 2024 season.
