The roster features plenty of talent.
Portland Trail Blazers v Milwaukee Bucks / Stacy Revere/GettyImagesThe Milwaukee Bucks Summer League stint is about to kick off with a five-game slate over the next week, and the roster is out. There will be 19 players on the roster; we’ll rank them and break them down into tiers.
First tier: NBA bound players
This first group of four players are players that are locks for the NBA roster for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2024-25 season.
No. 1: Andre Jackson Jr. – Ajax was already seeing playoff minutes as a rookie during the Bucks’ playoff series against the Pacers. With the departures of players like Malik Beasley and Jae Crowder, Jackson should figure to see an even larger role for Doc Rivers and the Bucks this upcoming season. Jackson Jr. shot a pleasantly surprising 37 percent from the 3-point line, and his athleticism will be welcomed on both ends.
No. 2: MarJon Beauchamp – Yes, his hype has dwindled since he was taken in first round in 2022. Beauchamp has two-way potential, but the time for him to realize it and put it into action at the NBA level is significantly shrinking. There was a large contingent of Bucks fans who complained about the lack of playing time for Beauchamp under Doc Rivers, but it is important to note that the wing dealt with an ankle injury almost the entirety of Rivers’ tenure with the Bucks last season.
No. 3: AJ Johnson – This may be a potentially hot take to have Johnson this high, but in a post-draft ranking of the potential Milwaukee Bucks players under 25, Johnson is number one. He obviously needs to gain some weight, but his combination of athleticism and speed is very intriguing. Johnson will absolutely be one of the players Bucks fans should watch most closely in the Summer League this week.
No. 4: Tyler Smith – Tyler Smith is a very strong candidate to earn a strong role for the Bucks should a Bobby Portis trade come to fruition. Smith has three-level scoring potential with his 35.2 percent 3-point shooting mark for the G-League Ignite last season. Tyler Smith is another player Bucks fans should have a close eye on during the Summer League.
