Shiloh Jolie Takes Stand: Pays for Own Attorney to Change Last Name

In a surprising move, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, allegedly paid for her own attorney when she petitioned to have her father’s last name removed.

According to an insider who spoke to Entertainment Tonight, Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for the services herself, without Angelina’s knowledge or involvement. The 18-year-old dancer submitted the request to change her name from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie late last month, coinciding with her 18th birthday.

Representatives for Brad Pitt, 60, and Angelina Jolie, 48, have not responded to requests for comment regarding Shiloh’s decision. This latest development places Shiloh alongside her siblings who have also distanced themselves from Brad Pitt. Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, Shiloh’s 15-year-old sister, was recently identified as Vivienne Jolie in the credits for the film “The Outsiders.”

However, it’s unclear if she has formally changed her name. Zahara Jolie-Pitt, Brad and Angelina’s 19-year-old daughter, renounced her father’s last name when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in November 2023, identifying herself as Zahara Marley Jolie. Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 22, reportedly doesn’t use “Pitt” as his last name on non-legal documents and instead uses “Jolie,” according to a 2021 US Weekly article. Reports indicate that Angelina disapproved of Maddox’s decision to formally alter his name at the time.

Pax and Knox Jolie-Pitt, the sons of the former couple, share the same sentiment as Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh, opting to use the Jolie surname.

After 12 years together and two years of marriage, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016 and claimed sole custody of their children. The divorce followed an alleged incident in 2016 on a private plane, during which Pitt allegedly became physical with Jolie and two of their six children.

The relationship between Angelina and Brad has reportedly fallen apart in the aftermath of their highly publicized divorce and custody battle.

The decision by Shiloh to change her name adds another layer to the ongoing saga of the Jolie-Pitt family, raising questions about the relationship dynamics and the children’s perceptions of their parents. While the reasons behind Shiloh’s decision remain unclear, it underscores the complexities of family relationships, especially in the glare of the public spotlight.
