The picture was criticized for its digital alterations and several irregularities that were pointed out by netizens. Now, sources close to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have called out the biased treatment of the Royal family and the fact that the same mistake wouldn’t have been tolerated if it had been made by the two of them.

Kate Middleton faced the wrath of the general public when she uploaded a photo of her and her children together for Mother’s Day, following a recent public sighting. People deduced that the photo was highly edited, including Middleton’s blurred right hand and some missing parts of Princess Charlotte’s wrist. The Princess of Wales even apologized for the mishap but it made the controversy even worse.

Now, a source close to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has voiced the biased damage control aspect of the situation. The source told Page Six that the same situation would have been seen and handled very differently if it was done by Markle stating that “this isn’t a mistake Meghan would ever make” or even afford to make.

Having separated from the Royal family for some years now, Markle doesn’t receive the same elitist treatment as Middleton. The source believes that “If Harry and Meghan had ever encountered the same issue, they would have been annihilated”. They further pointed out that the same rules and benefits that the Royal family lives by do not apply to Markle and Harry.

This is all to say that Markle would have received more hate and scrutiny if she had done the same thing. Middleton’s apology did little to put down the controversy but she at least seems to be aware of the criticism she’s receiving.

The recent scrutiny around Kate Middleton‘s photoshopped pictures has created a negative perception of the Royal family among the general public. Now, a London-based public relations and crisis communications expert, Mark Borkowski, has spoken about how the controversy has affected the Royals and their picture-perfect image.

Borkowski revealed that their halfway approach to dealing with such controversial situations has caused them more trouble. He also pointed out that people are now already wondering whether the whole photo was AI-generated. He told People,

“Now some people are asking if it is all generated by AI or is it a Photoshop of a photo taken. It’s not something you’d want the royal brand to be aligned with. The royals have got themselves cornered by giving some level of information but never enough. This has resulted in this rather unfortunate photo driving a story where perhaps it would normally be shrugged off.”

It is wild to think how one photo has caused such a big controversy that has become big headlines and paints a negative light on the Royals. With Middleton still in recovery,  It remains to be seen whether the Royals address this controversy properly and put an end to this situation that has blown out of proportion.
