Naomi Osaka‘s worst nightmare will finally come true in this year’s Roland Garros if she faces Iga Swiatek in the second round. Osaka will be locking horns with Lucia Bronzetti in the first round and if she emerges victorious, she will face the World No.1 in the second round. Swiatek will have to beat a winner of the qualifiers round to advance in the second round.

Back in 2022, during the Roland Garros, an unseeded Osaka, who missed a lot of tennis in 2021 due to mental health issues, had a dream in which she was handed a draw against Swiatek. During a press conference, she revealed how the thought of facing Swiatek scared her, but she heaved a sigh of relief after knowing she drew Amanda Anisimova for the first round (though she lost in straight sets later).

Notably, Swiatek arrived in Paris in 2022 with an unbelievable 28-match and five-tournament winning streak and went on to win six tournaments on the trot by beating Coco Gauff in the Roland Garros final. Before the win in Paris, the Pole secured victories in the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Masters, Stuttgart Open, and the Italian Open.

Naomi Osaka worries and overthinks a lot, but her delusional trait helps her dreams come true

During a recent interview with The Guardian, Naomi Osaka talked about how giving birth to daughter Shai made her more mature. The former World No.1 became the mother last July and returned to action this January and, so far, has been consistent.

One thing that the 26-year-old believes has allowed her to achieve her goals is her delusional trait. She feels the people who are called crazy are the ones who achieve something in their lives.

The four-time Grand Slam champion will face Lucia Bronzetti for the first time in her career. Before Roland Garros, Osaka was knocked out of the Italian Open’s Round of 16 after losing to Qinwen Zheng.
