Over two months ago, Olympia melted his father’s heart with a specially baked “IPO” cake. The adorable father-daughter duo has already stolen fans’ hearts with many such social media shenanigans and precious traditions. And now Ohanian found himself discovering a new aspect of parenthood which reminded him of his late mother.

Although his mom, Anke, is not be around to share the tales of parenthood anymore, Ohanian is settling into his role as a father nicely. Be it Olympia’s love for pancakes or understanding the value of paternity leaves, he has clearly showcased that there is nothing more important in his life than his daughters. However, following his recent tweet, he revealed how his love for Olympia resonates with the way his mother treated him in his childhood.

Alexis Ohanian who has established himself as a dedicated father to Olympia and Adira, took to his X platform to share an adorable parenting detail with his fans. “When I was around Olympia’s age, I remember often catching my mom just staring at me, smiling. I’d notice her doing it and be weirded out like “Mom, why are you staring at me???” — now I just caught myself doing it to Olympia…”-tweeted the Reddit co-founder.

Ohanian was very close to his mother, who passed away 16 years ago due to Glioblastoma, a brain tumor, at age 54. However, this Reddit co-founder and adorable father to two, didn’t forget his mother at all, but shared how her death anniversary still bears the load of pain in his life.

Ohanian alongside Aaron Swartz and Steve Huffman founded Reddit in 2005, but his mom’s diagnosis came shortly afterward that year and she passed away three years later. On March 15th, in 2022, he founded the 776 Foundation in her honor, “14 years ago today, my mom died. Her diagnosis (terminal brain cancer) just months into creating @reddit, had a tremendous impact on my career and life,” he posted on Instagram. “I’m tired of this day being a sad day for me and our family, so I’m launching the @776foundation (mission: fight inequity worldwide) so we can always remember Mar 15 as the day I began a legacy of good work to honor her.”

The organization is alive and kicking and one of Ohanian’s proudest accomplishments to date. Earlier this year, he posted on X, “My mom died 16 years ago today, This used to be the hardest day of the year for me (Ides of March, go figure) and then 3 years ago I started my family foundation — and found a new meaning to this day — one that I know she’d have been proud of.”

While not a lot is known about Alexis Ohanian’s mother, his life tells a story of immense love. And it was sweetly reciprocated from Ohanian’s daughter in March as Reddit marked a special occasion.

Reddit went public on March 21 and put 22 million shares for its Initial Public Offering. By the end of the day each share’s price increased by 48%. Ohanian marked the day by remembering his late mother and celebrated Reddit’s success with his daughter, Olympia, who baked him an “IPO Cake.”

Ohanian posted on X, “Your first granddaughter even made me an IPO cake.” Meanwhile, there was another recent heartwarming moment, where Olympia showed her love for her father.

For Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., her father’s is her first preference, and it is visible through their bonding time. Recently Ohanian showcased an amazing gift that he received from Olympia, fueling the fact that he is also Olympia’s favorite parent in the house.

The Reddit co-founder shared his daughter’s pink sticky note, where she drew a big heart and dropped a special message for her father- “Love you papa.” Since Olympia made this special gesture for her father on Mother’s Day, fans understood who was the winning parent here!
