What could be more comforting than being with family in times of adversity? For a sportsperson, nothing can be more disheartening than being forced out of a crucial match due to a health crisis. Such was the fate of World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who, despite his stellar performance, had to withdraw from the French Open. Now, rather than being on the court, Nole is spending quality time with his family, as he recovers from injury.
Novak Djokovic is perhaps witnessing one of the toughest phases of his career. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has remained titleless this season so far. While he was a crown favorite in the French Open, an unexpected injury forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Following a meniscus tear, Djokovic had earlier announced that he would not be able to play any more matches. He had qualified for the Quarterfinals at the venue, but his injury came as a major roadblock. But, you cannot keep a sportsperson away from the game for long enough!
As the Serbian recovers from injury, he was seen watching the final of the French Open from the comfort of his home. He has also received the companionship of his 9-year-old son Stefan. In a post shared by the 37-year-old on his Instagram, Djokovic can be seen sitting in front of the Television set as Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz contest to clinch the title. “Enjoying this match with some great company,” the caption of the Instagram post read.
Meanwhile, on the clay courts of Roland Garros, some sensational gameplay was seen on Sunday. While the first set was easily won by Alcaraz, Zverev made a sensational comeback in the subsequent two sets, thereby posing a tough challenge for the World No.3. However, Alcaraz soon returned to dominance and won the 4th and 5th sets to clinch is third Grand Slam title.
As the tournament draws to a close, and Wimbledon soon comes into the picture, all fans desire to know is about Nole’s comeback!
The fourth-round match of Novak Djokovic saw him in immense pain. The tennis legend was seen limping on the clay courts during the match. It was soon revealed that he tore his medial meniscus in his right knee.
According to general medical practices, it usually takes 3 to 6 months for a meniscus to be fully cured. While his reports have clearly revealed his status, uncertainty surrounds his participation in future events, including Wimbledon.
However, Nole did not waste any time and soon opted for surgery. He had also revealed that it went well, through a social media post. “I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well.”
While many doubt his appearance at Wimbledon, Djokovic expressed his desire to make a comeback to the courts soon. “I’m going to do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible,” Djokovic wrote on Instagram.
For now, it remains to be seen if he can make a comeback anytime soon or will Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics remain in jeopardy.
