World No.1 Novak Djokovic had a memorable day in Geneva on Wednesday. The Serbian made history by securing his 1100th tour-level win after his opening-round victory against unseeded German Yannick Hanfmann.
However, his history-making win turned into a memorable occasion when Geneva Open organizers presented him with a birthday cake to celebrate his 37th year on earth. The Serbian appeared ecstatic and shared the cake with the ball kids and security guards. Djokovic shared the memorable occasion on X (formerly known as Twitter) by addressing the fans and expressing his gratitude for the birthday wishes.
That was definitely a unique birthday celebration. I’ve received so much love from all of you and sealed it with a W. 👌🏻Love for me, win for you! See you again tomorrow. Same office, older guy 😉. #ATPGVA.Novak Djokovic tweeted
The 24-time Grand Slam champion will be aiming for his 99th ATP singles title in Switzerland. He will meet either wild card Denis Shapovalov or sixth seed Tallon Griekspoor in the quarter-finals.

Is Novak Djokovic still the man to beat at 37?
Not long ago, players were considered retired by the time they turned 30. However, Novak Djokovic and his two great rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, changed that narrative. With Federer retired and Nadal nearing the end of his career, is Djokovic still the man to beat at the age of 37?

Well, judging by the results, the answer is yes. The 24-time Grand Slam winner entered 2024 after securing three Grand Slam titles, winning his seventh World Tour Finals, and finishing the year-end as Number 1 for the eighth time. Despite lackluster results so far, he remains the World No.1 based on his performances in the past 12 months.
Considering that Jannik Sinner, after winning his first Grand Slam title, and Carlos Alcaraz, after winning two Grand Slams, have struggled with fitness and may already be experiencing difficulties in raising their levels, it only underscores Djokovic’s exceptional fitness at his age.
Hence, even if Djokovic has had a rough spell so far in 2024, he will always be one of the contenders for the biggest prizes. The upcoming Roland Garros campaign presents the three-time champion with the chance to become the only player in tennis history to win 25 Grand Slam titles in the singles category.
