Iga Swiatek failed to defend her French Open title in 2021

Polish pro-Iga Swiatek has dominated the WTA Tour this season so far. Despite a bad start at the Australian Open, Swiatek managed to find a way into the other tournaments and even win quite a few.
Heading into the clay season, the Pole has been nothing but unstoppable. She has always done well on clay, especially Roland Garros, and hopes to replicate the same.
However, in a recent writing from the player’s tribune, Iga Swiatek mentioned wanting to do everything in the right manner, leading her to prove herself at the Roland Garros. She is deemed to be a perfectionist and is always looking to do everything right.
As an example of this, the Pole took the readers back in time to 2021, when she was the defending champion at Roland Garros.
The previous year, Swiatek did not feel like she proved herself despite having the French Open. This is where her perfectionist mind wanted her to prove herself for the next tournament. However, the conditions were much different, and Swiatek was unable to replicate the same.
So going into the 2021 season, I felt like, Okay, now I have to prove myself. And it was mentally awful for me at first. I wanted to play the same way I did in Paris the year before, but the conditions were different.Said Iga Swiatek on the Tribune
However, she had to work on that and understand her losses. A year later, Swiatek redeemed herself at the French Open and won the tournament. She currently has three titles there and is hoping to achieve a fourth one. With some dominant form behind her, she is a favorite for the tournament.

First was the Madrid Open, where the Pole cruised past her rounds to beat Aryna Sabalenka in the finals. She lost only two sets that whole tournament. However, the Italian Open was next, and Swiatek did even better there. She went all the way without dropping a set and beat Sabalenka once again to win her second title in a row.
With Roland Garros coming in a week, Swiatek hopes to get her third consecutive title there and complete the triple crown. She is a clear favorite there and hopes to win her fourth title there.
