For the first time in its 28-year history, the WNBA will have league-wide charter flights for all 12 teams, and Diana Taurasi does not seem too impressed by this.

The Phoenix Mercury superstar was asked about how the charter flights have gone for the Mercury this season for away games this week, and she gave a blunt response that perfectly describes the type of person she is.
Via the AP‘s Doug Feinberg, she said that, “it’s a plane.”
Prior to this season, individual teams were not allowed to use charter planes because they were deemed an unfair competitive advantage. Charter flights were also decided to be too costly to implement league-wide. All teams are required to travel on league visits using premium economy or an equivalent upgraded coach fare, as per Article XI, Section 4 of the current CBA.
WNBPA executive director Terri Jackson told CBS Sports via email earlier this month, “The decision to implement charters is not only the right thing to do, but it is also right for the business because it demonstrates the willingness of management to invest in the players. It’s both.”
“And ‘competitive advantage’ had nothing to do with it.”
Diana Taurasi, a three-time NCAA champion with UConn, was the first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft, who’s still going strong in 2024.

Coming into the WNBA season, fans talked about a potential rivalry brewing between Caitlin Clark and Diana Taurasi.
“Reality is coming,” Taurasi said on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. “There’s levels to this thing.”
She received a ton of hate for it.
Clark and Taurasi will square off on June 30 when the Indiana Fever travel to the desert to face the Phoenix Mercury.
