Caitlin Clark left a legacy in college basketball, and with how she plays on the court, there’s no ounce of doubt that she is fierce at competing. However, Clark’s conduct towards JuJu Watkins shows that the WNBA star is more than just a fierce competitor, who wants to lead women’s basketball to new heights.

Lindsay Gottlieb, who is Watkins’ coach with the USC Trojans, narrated the tale of Clark that extends beyond the basketball court. Watkins, who set a record in her freshman year with 920 points, has a legitimate chance to break Clark’s college record of 3,951 total points.

Caitlin Clark and Watkins ran into each other at the Wooden Awards at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Watkins was one of the finalists for the trophy, which Clark eventually won. According to Gottlieb, Clark talked to Watkins for a long time and eventually took her phone and saved her own number as “coach” on Watkin’s phone.

Coach Watkins heaped praise on Clark for helping other players carry the game forward.

“I’m certainly going to utilize that as a resource, if she’s this willing,” Gottlieb said. “I think that’s just a neat thing. And I do think it’s really cool on her part to be willing to pay it forward, so to speak, and help someone else.”

Clark is a big reason why women’s basketball has received a lot of attention lately. She and the other players have been great messengers when it comes to carrying the game forward, and they deserve every bit of credit for doing their part.

Caitlin Clark might have had a rough start to her rookie season in the WNBA. However, the No. 1 pick in the draft doesn’t lack confidence when it comes to her talent. Clark won her first game in the WNBA, which came against the LA Sparks. Before that the Fever went 0-5 to start the season.

Clark struggled throughout three quarters and went 0-of-7 from the 3-point line until the third quarter. However, she nailed two crucial 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to clinch the game for the Fever.

After the win, Caitlin Clark was asked about her struggles, and Clark made it clear that she never lacks the confidence to take any shot.

“I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing, but I seriously think every shot I shoot is going to go in,” Clark said.

“Some nights are absolutely amazing and some nights you struggle to shoot it a little bit, but I want to take those shots at the end of the game. I think it’s a mindset and a confidence that you have to have about yourself.”

Caitlin Clark and the Fever are 1-6 on the season. After the win against Cameron Brink and the Sparks, the Fever lost their next game against the defending champions, Las Vegas Aces.
