As the Milwaukee Bucks manage the challenges of their offseason, one major decision has been made. General Manager Jon Horst has chosen to stay with the team, despite interest from the Detroit Pistons. However, several other significant decisions loom, including those concerning five unrestricted free agents.
5 Milwaukee Bucks Set to Be Free Agents in the 2024 Offseason…
Fortunately for the Bucks, none of these free agents are expected to demand hefty contracts, which is advantageous given the team’s limited financial flexibility this offseason.
Several of these players could still play important roles off the bench if re-signed. Here’s a look at the five players set to enter unrestricted free agency this summer:
Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Thanasis Antetokounmpo, known for his high energy and supportive presence, was expected to secure another contract with the Bucks until an Achilles injury derailed his season. This injury not only affects his upcoming season but also casts uncertainty over his future in basketball. Despite this, his positive influence in the locker room might see him return in a different role under Doc Rivers.
Malik Beasley
Malik Beasley had a season of highs and lows. He started strong, ranking among the top three-point shooters before his performance declined sharply in March and April, resulting in limited playoff appearances. Miscast as a defensive player, a role unsuited to him, Beasley might seek a larger contract elsewhere. However, the Bucks could still offer him a minimum deal to contribute off the bench next season.
Patrick Beverley
Acquired midseason through a trade, Patrick Beverley excelled with the Bucks. Known to Rivers and having reconciled with Damian Lillard, Beverley performed effectively on both offense and defense. While Milwaukee is likely to re-sign him, they need to be cautious about the cost, considering he will soon be 36 years old.
Jae Crowder
It appears Jae Crowder’s stint with Milwaukee is coming to an end. His time with the Bucks was largely unremarkable, marked by limited playoff appearances and a lack of significant impact. Despite the considerable trade assets used to acquire him, Crowder’s performance didn’t meet expectations. Milwaukee aims to boost their athleticism on the wing, which means parting ways with Crowder.
Danilo Gallinari
Danilo Gallinari joined the Bucks this season through a buyout. Though not much was expected, he had some noteworthy moments during the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers. Looking ahead, Gallinari might seek to join a championship contender, but Milwaukee, in need of more athletic players, is unlikely to be his destination.
