Clark was involved in a heated exchange with Chicago Sky’s Carter on Saturday

Nancy Lieberman reveals Caitlin Clark's biggest mistake in Chennedy Carter spat: I would've punched her

Caitlin Clark should have punched Chennedy Carter after the pair came to blows during a feisty clash on Saturday, according to WNBA icon Nancy Lieberman.
The basketball legend – nicknamed ‘Lady Magic’ – had some strong words for the Indiana Fever star following her altercation with Chicago Sky guard Carter during the game.

Carter knocked Clark to the ground while the ball was out of the play during the Fever‘s 71-70 win, a move that prompted coach Christie Sides to call for more protection for the 22-year-old.

The foul was upgraded by the WNBA to a Flagrant-1 violation after the game.

Lieberman, 65, is renowned for having a no-nonsense stance on basketball and, perhaps unsurprisingly, she believes Clark should have taken matters into her own hands by striking her opponent.

“If I were Caitlin Clark, I would have punched her in the face. I’m from New York and I would have told her to f*** off,” Lieberman said on Run It Back, via ClutchPoints.

“That would actually cure the problem because I’ve known Chennedy since she was in high school here in Dallas. She’s a tough kid, she’s a really good basketball player. She’s going to come after you because she’s very physical, which is OK.

“But man, where is Caitlin Clark‘s teammates? I’d be p****d as s*** at my team-mates if nobody came to my defense.”

How did Caitlin Clark react?

The No.1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark has garnered a huge wave of attention following her record-breaking stint in the NCAA with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Some players have resorted to giving her special treatment on the court, something Clark has struggled to adapt to. However, after her clash with Carter, she did her talking on the court by scoring 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the narrow win.

After the game, Carter refused to answer any questions about the incident, while the Des Moines-born star shrugged off the incident: “You got to find a way to hold your own,” said Clark. “I grew up with two brothers and things were very physical… so I’m definitely prepared for it.”
