For years now, the Milwaukee Bucks have pursued the ideal wing to work with the core of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton. Their quest may come to an end if French forward Pacome Dadiet is selected and lives up to expectations.

During the previous offseason, the Bucks’ front office decided to shake things up by acquiring All-Star point guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team deal with the Phoenix Suns. In exchange, Milwaukee sent out Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, and several draft picks.

This move resulted in an offense anchored by the duo of Lillard and Antetokounmpo. The former has the ability to score anywhere on the court, while the latter is a force to be reckoned with on the paint. As a result, the Bucks’ wing players outside of Khris Middleton were relegated to shooting threes from the corner while defending on the other end of the court.

Nevertheless, Milwaukee has tried several young players to give the team another reliable option on the wing aside from Middleton. So far, that quest hasn’t yielded any major results as the team still lacked consistent production in part of their lineup.

French Wing Pacome Dadiet Projected To Be Among Milwuakee Bucks’ Draft Targets

While the Bucks have tried several guys to complement Middleton in the wing, their quest may come to an end if they select French star Pacome Dadiet in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. According an article Sam Vecenie wrote for The Athletic:

“Dadiet is rising fast up the board for teams after a strong stretch of games in Germany, where he has averaged about 10 points per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3 in limited attempts. A big French wing with long arms,

Dadiet’s offensive game has impressed scouts most. He looks to have a workable NBA shot as well as sharp offensive instincts as a cutter. However, he does not play up to his tools on defense at this stage and hasn’t shown a ton as a playmaker for his teammates.

The Bucks are in a tough spot, and it’s hard to tell exactly what they will do with this pick. Trading it should certainly be on the table given their commitment to winning now. On the other hand, general manager Jon Horst’s front office has really prioritized the project-wing archetype in recent years with picks such as Andre Jackson Jr., MarJon Beauchamp and Chris Livingston. It’s clear they’re trying to find a player to fill that big wing role,” Vecenie wrote.

Over the course of 18 EuroCup games he played during the 2023-24 season, Dadiet averaged 6.4 points and 1.6 rebounds. He also shot 45 percent from the field, 31 percent from deep, and 72 percent from the free throw line.

While Dadiet may offer the Bucks an intriguing option at the wing, the need to win right now may supersede the call to develop the French star. In any case, he remains one of the key players to consider in the upcoming draft.
