Caitlin Clark has forced people to tune into the WNBA. Her highlights on the floor are too much for anyone to ignore. Since she’s been drafted No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft, all eyes have been on Clark.

She’s facing a level of pressure and scrutiny similar to LeBron James, when he was drafted No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. Clark has only been in the WNBA for just over a month, but many already have her listed as the face of the league.

James recently spoke on the struggles she’s facing. While Clark is averaging the most points as a rookie at 17.0 per game, she’s having trouble in the efficiency and turnover categories.

These are normal growing pains that rookies endure, but Clark hasn’t been able to live past the stardom. Rookies are supposed to come into the league, make mistakes and have trouble with consistency, yet with Clark the bar is set a higher ceiling.

“But for her individually I don’t think she should get involved with nothing that’s being said. Just go have fun, enjoy. But I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before, I’ve walked that road before. I hope she kills. I hope Aliyah Boston does amazing,” said James, via Mind the Gme on X.

James thinks Clark should take it one game at a time and be herself in the process. It may just be a simple message, telling Clark to just go have fun, but when the WNBA rookie is playing freely without any worry of outside noise, she’s one of the best in the game.
