Los Angeles Lakers fans are running wild with this interview clip of JJ Redick on Draft Kings’ Gojo and Golic Show, during which he let a key piece of information about the Lakers’ head coaching search slip. LeBron James‘ new head coach seems all but confirmed.

Redick lets key info slip about Lakers coaching job

Redick was asked about the report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania saying the Lakers are ‘zeroing in’ on him as their next head coach, and his coy response carried the tone of someone who got a promotion but wasn’t allowed to tell his co-workers yet.

“My focus is on the NBA Finals,” Redick stated, with his body language saying more than his words. “In terms of Shams, that will be addressed once the season is over.”

“JJ Redick just confirmed the obvious. You’re looking at the next Lakers head coach,” popular Lakers content creator Aron Cohen posted on X, formerly Twitter, along with the video clip.

Top candidate to be Lakers next head coach

Redick has no head coaching experience but he played in the NBA, is a broadcaster for the NBA Finals on ABC, and co-hosts a podcast with Lakers star LeBron James.

Beyond his personal relationship with LeBron, Los Angeles’ front office thinks that he has the potential to be like the legendary Pat Riley, who won rings in LA with the famous Showtime Lakers.

Nothing has been confirmed by the Lakers yet, and if you believe Redick’s interview, it will not be for another few weeks. But that hasn’t stopped fans in Purple and Gold from feeling that the head coach search is over, and jumping straight into the next domino: whether or not the Lakers will draft Bronny James.
