Heat’s Offer For Lauri Markkanen Compared To Lakers’ And Warriors’ Offers
The Miami Heat officially entered the Lauri Markkanen Sweepstakes this week.
Over the past month, the Utah Jazz have repeatedly made it clear that although they don’t necessarily want to trade Markkanen, they are willing to do so.
As a result, three teams have essentially risen up and presented potential trade options for the talented 27-year-old.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been Markkanen’s most desperate suitor, but bring arguably the worst package to the table. Their offer for Markkanen is a matter of public record.
L.A.’s package would see them giving up all draft capital starting with 2025 and ending in 2030. In addition, Austin Reaves would need to be part of any potential swap – plus another key role player like Rui Hachimura. Finally, the Lakers would need to take back some bad contracts.
The Golden State Warriors are another team to watch. Their offer for Markkanen is also publicly out there.
It is basically centered around Kevin Looney, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and first round picks in 2025 and 2027. In return, Golden State would get Markkanen plus most likely Walker Kessler.
Finally, this week Miami jumped into the fray. What do the Heat bring to the table? First they would throw in Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson. From there it would be Jaime Jaquez Jr., a combination of future picks and then the willingness to accept a bad contract.
How does that stack up to the Lakers’ and Warriors’ offerings? Well, it is better than what L.A. brings to the table – but arguably worse than Golden State’s offer.
Last year Markkanen averaged 23.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He put up those numbers while shooting 48.0 percent from the floor and 39.9 percent – ultimately connecting on 3.2 threes per outing.
It is easy to see why everyone wants him.
Which team will get Markkanen when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
