Brian Windhorst Reveals What Lakers Would Have To Give Suns In Kevin Durant Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are two teams who are coming off very disappointing 2023-24 NBA campaigns.

As a result, big changes are expected on both sides.

This past week, Stephen A. Smith appeared on ESPN and suggested that a deal centering around Kevin Durant might make sense for both sides.

“Personality-wise, I think the perfect place for him would have been the Lakers because of LeBron,” Smith said. “I’m just talking about his personality, not whether it would fit cap-wise.”

The salary cap fit, unfortunately, is an important part of all this. Why? Because in order to make the numbers work, L.A. would have to give up a very substantial piece in order to acquire Durant.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, in order to make these numbers work, the Lakers would have to ship off Anthony Davis in any potential trade involving Durant.

And in Windhorst’s estimation, there is no way the Lakers pull the trigger on a move like that.

Obviously Durant in purple and gold is something Lakers fans have yearned for over course of the past decade.

Seeing him team up with LeBron James would be a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, as noted by Windhorst, there is really no way to make that dream a reality at this point in time.
