The Chicago Sky, led by Angel Reese, has displayed a lot of promise at the start of the season. After thrashing New York Liberty in their second preseason exhibition, they dropped their efforts a little in the debut against Dallas. However, looks like they have regained their momentum and are now heading into their next game with a 1-1 record. But what does the rookie herself think about her performance on the floor tonight?

Talking about her improving free throws in the post-game press conference, Angel Reese said, “I think I still missed two crucial ones at the end that I’m really still going to be hard on myself about. But, obviously, I worked on free throws for a long time. I get to the line a lot so I have to knock those free throws down.”

The Sky rookie also added how she learned from her WNBA career debut. She said, “I look back and see what I did that wasn’t good. The first game where I was rushing my free throws. So, I think I helped the team tonight with free throws.”

In the first game of the season for Chicago, Angel Reese got 8 free throws. However, her accuracy was just 25% with only 2 shots going in. But this time, her 7 free throw attempts received 5 successes, bringing her accuracy up to 71.42% for tonight. These numbers are quite impressive for her second game in the W. And she has been constantly improving ever since her freshman year.

After averaging 67% in her first year, she saw that average increase year-on-year from 68% to 71% to 73% in her senior year. So Chicago fans can look forward to more consistency in free throw shooting from the Chi Barbie. Let us look at her entire display tonight in the College Park Center.

Angel Reese almost records a double-double again

Similar to her very first outing in the preseason games, the Baltimore native missed by a chip to keep her double-double legacy from LSU going. Tonight, she had 11 points with 3 from the field and 5 from the free-throw line. Adding her defensive flare, she grabbed 9 rebounds out of the team’s 42 tonight. Chicago Sky’s Instagram account even added this win to their page captioning it, “D-TOWN, UPTOWN, HAND DOWN MAN DOWN… WE DON’T CARE BOUT NONE OF THAT, SKY WIN”

The rather young team with talented and quick women is surely coming in hot. Will this mean that Angel Reese’s ability to bring wins to her teams will also transform in the professional league? Whether that happens or not, one thing is for sure, Chicago fans are in for one very exciting season.
