Anthony Davis Gets Brutally Honest About How Bronny Looks So Far

The Los Angeles Lakers used one of their two picks in the 2024 NBA Draft on LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny James.

Over the weekend Bronny made his Summer League debut. The grade he earned for Saturday’s performance speaks for itself. Given that the Lakers are already trying to dump a player currently on the roster in order to free up playing time for Bronny, many have begun to speculate regarding how his teammates look at the 19-year-old.

Obviously everyone knows how LeBron feels about Bronny.

But what about his other teammates, like Anthony Davis?

Prior to the Lakers actually selecting Bronny in the second round, Davis offered his brutally honest assessment of the youngster.

“He’s very good defensively,” Davis said.

“He can read the floor very well. I think he’s a really good playmaker. I saw him work out a couple times besides the [Klutch Sports] pro day and working with a big — his reads, reading the defense, making the right passes — that was really impressive to me.”

Given Bronny’s poor showing in his first Summer League game and subsequent injury, it will be interesting to see how Davis feels about his new teammate going forward.

Obviously everyone starts with a certain amount of patience for young players. But at some point, that begins to wear thin.

Davis is still young. He undoubtedly wants to win another championship. Whether or not Bronny can eventually help him do that will likely dictate where their relationship goes from here.
