The WNBA rookie continues to grab headlines for her performances on & off the court
Angel Reese continues to impress in her first games in the WNBA Chicago Sky rookie, Angel Reese, had the best game of her young WNBA career on Thursday night against the New York Liberty. In 31 minutes on the court, Reese scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Sky’s 90-81 surprising win at Barclays Center.
Reese’s viral moments vs NY
Reese’s first viral moment of the day came as pictures of her game-day outfit hit social media.
The young WNBA starlet arrived wearing a red miniskirt with a white top, a black leather jacket, and sunglasses to complete the ensemble.
Once she hit the court, the rookie didn’t let go of her fashion sense and debuted a custom pair of sneakers.
Reese found herself in the ‘trending’ column for wearing a blue and yellow version of her shoes with her “Chi-Barbie” nickname on the side.
It was later revealed that her shoes were made by artist Marvin Baroota.
Reese vs Stewart, the start of a personal rivalry?
Fans at Barclays Center were treated to a great showdown between reigning MVP Breanna Stewart and Angel Reese.
The rookie was defiant at all times and never backed down against Stewart.
The Liberty star was limited to 18 points in the game.
During the first half Stewart went 0-5 from the field and only scored three points.
While Reese can’t take all the credit for Stewart’s quiet night, she was instrumental in shutting down the MVP’s skills on the offensive front.
After the game, Stewart and Reese were seen exchanging a curt greeting at halfcourt.
Reese has been enjoying incredible first weeks as a pro and her star power is expected to keep rising as she settles into the WNBA and continues to confirm that the skills showcased during her NCAA career translate seamlessly to the next level.
One play that perfectly sums up how the night went for Reese and Stewart came in the final two minutes of the game where Reese unleashed a mean-mug next to Stewart on the floor after she got a layup-and one to seal the Sky’s win.
A photo of the moment was shared on Chicago’s social media platforms following the win and quickly went viral.
