Wilson was strutting her stuff on court

Much of the interest in the current WNBA season has been centered on Caitlin Clark and her first campaign with the Indiana Fever, but A’ja Wilson showed why she deserves immense respect on Saturday night.

Wilson shined as the Las Vegas Aces heaped more misery on the Fever who have started the season terribly, leading to a lot of pressure on their coach.

Many regard Wilson as the best player currently in the WNBA and she racked up 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Las Vegas Aces to a 99-80 win over the Indiana Fever.

Clark scored eight points on 2-of-8 shooting (2 of 5 from the 3-point line) and had seven assists and five rebounds to go with six turnovers. That is her lowest return in a pro game, having previously averaged 16.7 points.

Perhaps in an effort to protect her from tough questions, Clark was not made available to the media after the defeat.A'ja Wilson A’ja WilsonJohn LocherLAPRESSE

Wilson dominates for the Aces

Wilson is a two-time league MVP and she made 12 of her 18 shots, and had her fourth consecutive 20-point and 10-rebound game which tied a WNBA record shared with three other players.

“Last year, I was kind of going with the flow,” Wilson said.

“This year, I feel like I’m trying to pick the defense apart and get to my spots. I sometimes settled a lot last year, which gave the defense time to get a stop. So this year I feel like I’m starting to dissect the game a little bit more.”
