The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly stunned when she discovered she would not be living in Windsor Castle when she arrived in the UK, claims a royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly “stunned” after finding out she would not be living in Windsor Castle when she first arrived in the UK and she was always going to be “tied to second place”, a royal expert has claimed.

Meghan Markle married Prince Harry back in 2018 in a lavish ceremony, with the couple later gifted Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth II to use as their home. In 2019, £2.4 million was spent on renovating the cottage, which is in Windsor, though this was paid back by Meghan and Prince Harry when they moved to the US.

Royal expert, Tom Quinn, claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle grew “jealous” of Prince William and Princess Kate and the friction ultimately contributed to their decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020. The couple have since moved to California where they now reside with their two young children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

Tom Quinn told the Mirror: “Harry has always been jealous that the accident of birth has made his brother certain of his role in life while, as spare, he was left to struggle to make his own way.

“Of course he was still a senior royal, still in the line of succession, which was magical for Meghan. But following their wedding the Duchess of Sussex quickly realised that by marrying the spare she was always going to be tied to second place.”

The expert added that Meghan soon realised that it would not be possible to climb up the royal rankings.

He said: “When Meghan arrived in the UK and got over the first shock of not being allowed to live in Windsor Castle, she realised that no amount of hard work and charm would move her into pole position. Meghan and Harry were and are jealous of the status of William and Kate.”

Clare Balding once ‘nearly killed’ Princess Anne in a freak accident

TV broadcaster Clare Balding has unearthed a memory of how she once “nearly killed” Princess Anne during a horse race in the 1980s as she reminisced over her royal connections.

Clare who lives with her wife in West London, was a jockey for five years before she joined the BBC as a trainee in 1994, and she even once raced against Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall.

Prince Harry and Meghan set for major snub as King Charles and William make key decision

In a major snub to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a royal author believes the royal duo’s invite to Balmoral this summer was never a realistic condition.

It comes as King Charles and his eldest son, Prince William, reportedly came together and decided things were just too challenging following a demanding year for the firm with both the reigning monarch and Princess Kate undergoing treatment for cancer.

Some royal observers believe the family gathering in Scotland represented the perfect opportunity to extend an invite to Harry and Meghan, but it is understood the Sussexes will not be returning to the UK.

Prince Harry’s major worry about Kate and William after they made huge Meghan confession

Prince Harry had one major “worry” before he introduced Meghan Marke to the Prince and Princess of Wales after they made a bizarre revelation about her, according to the duke himself.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started dating in 2016 and it wasn’t long until Meghan met Harry’s family.

But during the first few months of their relationship, the couple tried to keep it under wraps, however, rumours soon started circulating about their courtship.

Shortly after that, Harry wrote in his memoir Spare, that Prince William and Princess Kate had invited him for dinner and began questioning him over who his mystery woman was.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s chief of staff ‘quits’ ahead of ‘Colombia tour’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s US operation appear to be crumbling, with major staff members quitting and moving on to pastures new.

The latest casualty in their organisational structure is the Duke of Sussex’s chief-of-staff, Josh Kettler, who is reported to have quit at short notice – after just three months in the post.

“Josh Kettler is no longer working for them,” a Californian source revealed to the Daily Mail, in a major blow shortly before the Sussexes are due to embark on their “quasi-royal” tour around a South American country.

Prince Andrew’s bid to cling on to Royal Lodge could crash down as expert spots loophole

Prince Andrew’s determination to stay in his £30m Royal Lodge home could be crushed due to one key detail, according to a property expert.

The Duke of York has been refusing to leave the 30-bedroom property in Windsor, where he resides with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, and is currently embroiled in a royal feud with his brother, King Charles, over his living situation.

Andrew has been struggling with the upkeep of the grade II-listed property, as he is required to “repair, renew, uphold, clean and keep in repair and, where necessary, rebuild” the mansion, according to the 75-year lease agreement granted to him in 2003 by the Crown Estate.

Inside Meghan Markle’s business empire and why it’s stalling as new brands flop

After their departure from Royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dived into several ventures, balancing these with raising their young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Their latest endeavour is centred around their children; The Parents’ Network, targeting the scourge of cyberbullying and setting out to foster safer online interactions to shield kids from digital threats.

Discussing the initiative on a recent CBS interview, Meghan opened up, saying: “I think when you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey, certainly part of mine, is being able to be really open about it. And I haven’t really scraped the surface on my experience but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way.”

‘Cruel’ Meghan Markle is ‘last person who should talk about love’, says Royal expert

A Royal expert has accused Meghan Markle of hypocrisy over her treatment of estranged father Thomas Markle, amidst a bitter family divide. The Duchess of Sussex stands accused of “freezing out” her own father in a manner described as “cruel.”

Last month saw the embers of scandal re-ignited when Lady Colin Campbell, former ‘I’m A Celebrity’ contestant, set up a GoFundMe page ostensibly to cheer Thomas Markle on the eve of his 80th birthday on July 18.

Portrayed as someone who had been “rejected and abandoned”, the initiative sought to assure him that “good people” still exist, raking in upwards of £54,000.
