Idemo Nole fans! The three-time French Open winner, Novak Djokovic was forced to withdraw his name from the QF after suffering a knee injury during his fourth-round victory against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo.
As per his medical reports, he tore the meniscus in his right knee during the process and was all set to undergo surgery in Paris on Wednesday. Just after hearing the Serb’s surgery news, his fans were worried whether they would see him at the Wimbledon this year. But recently, Novak Djokovic released an update upon completing the surgery successfully. American sensation Coco Gauff was the among the first ones to send regards to Djokovic!
Novak Djokovic took to Instagram to give an update to his fans. In the post, he wrote, “In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match. I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well.” The 37-year-old Serbian tennis star went on to thank all those who helped him during this process, “I am so appreciative of the team of doctors who have been by my side, as well as the overwhelming support I have received from my fans.”
‘Djoker’ further said he’s going to do his best to stay healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible. “My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going. Idemooo” he added. Coco Gauff, another rising star in the tennis world, offered her well wishes with a heartfelt “Get well soon!” comment on the post, demonstrating the camaraderie and sportsmanship that often exists within the sport.
Just after withdrawing from the tournament, Novak Djokovic wrote, “I am really sad to announce that I have to withdraw from Roland Garros.” And he has every reason to be sad! The Serbian tennis star hasn’t yet won a trophy this year and to take a step back after reaching so close to defending his title in Paris is really devastating for any player.
Not only that, his exit from the French Open means the end of a 19-year streak. The last French Open final not involving any of the three legends was in 2004 when Gaston Gaudio defeated fellow Argentine Guillermo Coria to win his first and only major. At least one among Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal has featured in the finals of Roland Garros since the 2005 French Open.
Everyone loves to watch them play on the bigger stages of the game and this is the exact reason why the tennis world has joined hands to wish him a quick recovery.
The tennis world wishes Novak Djokovic a “speedy recovery”
Novak Djokovic is certainly not having a good time over the past few months. Jannik Sinner arrived in Paris needing to reach the finals of the French Open to assure himself a top spot in the men’s singles ranking. But with the withdrawal of Djokovic, now the top of the table is almost certain for the Italian tennis star. Djoker will be looking forward to getting back his crown as soon as possible this year. But before that, he needs to recover from his injury fully. And to help him in his recovery, the tennis world has come together to send him best wishes.
The Swiss tennis star, Stan Wawrinka also commented on his post wishing him a quick recovery. He attached a couple of ‘folded hands’ emojis denoting praying for his strong comeback. Spanish former ATP star, Alex Corretja wrote, “Hope to see you soon, and thanks for sharing your feelings on court with such a transparency.” Another former tennis player and current coach, Simon Konov wrote, “Speedy recovery champion.” The World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t hold himself back and wished that everyone gets to enjoy the World No. 1’s tennis soon:
Everyone wants to see him back at the helm of the tennis world as soon as possible. Share your best wishes for Nole in the comment box.
