After Taylor Swift dropped her latest album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) on Friday (19 April), breaking streaming records with over 300 million streams on Spotify alone, MANY people dove deep into the album.

One song in particular have fans speculating that Taytay is coming for Kim Kardashian.

Reports show that Swift and Kardashian have been at odds for over a decade.

Before they began butting heads, Kardashian shared her “love” of the pop superstar with “Entertainment Tonight” in 2009 and called herself the “biggest fan.”

But Kardashian’s then-husband, Kanye West, infamously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech during the 2009 VMAs. West snatched the microphone and said: “I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

Fast-forward to 2016, when Kardashian uploaded a three-minute snippet of what was later revealed to be a 25-minute phone call that made it seem like Swift approved of Kanye West’s song “Famous,” which includes the line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex”.

The song also included West rapping that he made “that b#tch famous” – implying that he was referring to Swift.

The Kardashians star claimed in June 2016 that West had followed “proper protocol” and got “approval” from Swift, telling GQ, “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t.”

Swift’s rep subsequently called “much of” Kardashian’s comment “incorrect.”

The Skims creator went on to publicly release clips from West’s phone call with Swift via Snapchat, with the “Shake It Off” singer calling the “sex” line a “compliment.”

Swift went into defence saying that these ‘leaked calls’ were manufactured and edited to make it seem like Swift gave her permission for her name to be used like this when she did not know anything about the song or its release.

Kardashian went on to shade the singer on social media, and her fans followed suit with snake emojis.

Meanwhile, Swift said the whole song affected her mentally and made her feel like a “liar.”

At the time, Swift’s rep clarified that she had not been made aware of the line about West making “that bitch famous.”

“It never happened,” Swift herself clarified via Instagram. “You cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard. Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world.”

Now that we’re all caught up…

Back to 2024 and Taytay’s TTPD release, the above drama seems like it was forgiven but not forgotten.

The Grammy-winning singer seems to be fanning the flames around her feud with Kardashian in a song (or diss track?) titled, ‘thanK you aIMee.’

Fans were quick to notice the capitalisation in the “thanK you aIMee” spelling “Kim” and believing the song shading ‘a high school bully’ was actually about Kim Kardashian.

Side note: In January 2023, Kardashian’s eldest daughter, North West posted a TikTok of her dancing to Swift’s “Shake it Off” with her mom. Yes, North West is a Swiftie – fans are using this little video as further evidence for the lyrics above to prove that Swift is referencing Kardashian.

“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before,” she recalled. “I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls.”

“I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard,” Swift continued, comparing it to a “career death.”

Swift referenced a “bronze, spray-tanned” woman in the track who her mom “wish[es] were dead.”

“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’,” she sang. “And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F—k you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”

Swifties have flocked to Kardashian’s social media leaving comments like ‘hello aimee’, ‘aimee, is that you?’

Yip – your girl Taytay didn’t come to play with this album.

TikTok users and Swifties are all for the singer’s honest feelings and “taking down bullies” while some fans say “this feud will never be over”.
