Three Years to Find Their Dream Home

Being perfectionists, Jay-Z and Beyoncé took no less than three years to find their dream home. The couple lived in a series of extremely expensive rental mansions until they found and invested in the $88 million Bel Air property.

According to Love Property, the famous artist couple once lived in a 1,207 square meter house in New Orleans, which used to be a Presbyterian church, featuring 10-meter high ceilings and large windows.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé also lived in a seaside villa on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, where they welcomed their twins, Rumi and Sir. This villa, which featured 15 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, had a rental price of up to $400,000 per month.

Additionally, the Hollywood power couple rented a mansion located in the luxurious Holmby Hills estate. This nearly 1,500 square meter property, with 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, cost $150,000 per month. Eventually, Jay-Z and Beyoncé decided to purchase their current $88 million Bel Air mansion (listed for $120 million) in 2017.

World-Class Facilities

Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and their three children currently reside in the $88 million mansion featuring 6 separate structures and spanning over 2,787 square meters. The house includes 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and was designed by architect Dean McKillen. In addition to its vast space and grand structures, the house is equipped with special amenities such as a garage large enough for their luxury car collection, a spa, and a home theater.

The entertainment room has a large screen, luxurious furniture, mood lighting, and even doors covered in lizard skin. Queen Bey’s stylish house includes 4 swimming pools, a basketball court, and a separate staff area, ensuring 24/7 service.

According to the Los Angeles Times, despite their enormous wealth, the couple had to take out a $52.8 million mortgage from Goldman Sachs to buy the 0.8-hectare hillside property in Bel Air for $88 million. This means the power couple pays a monthly payment of $149,600. They paid 40% of the house’s purchase price, equivalent to $35.2 million, in cash.

Bulletproof Windows for Security

In addition to world-class amenities, there are elements that make this mansion stand out: an outdoor space of nearly 930 square meters, panoramic views of Los Angeles, and bulletproof glass windows for absolute safety.

Earlier this year, British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful dined with Beyoncé at this house. According to Edward, the house made him feel comfortable, impressively minimalist with beautiful art.

Speaking of art, the house features many commendable works. Beyoncé enjoys the works of Ethiopian-American contemporary artist Awol Erizku, Kerry James Marshall, and Kara Walker.
