Fresh off his NBA championship win with the Boston Celtics, Jaylen Brown arrived at the ESPY Awards red carpet sporting more than just his finest attire. Brown proudly displayed his championship trophy for the cameras in a move that some might interpret as a subtle jab following his exclusion from the Team USA roster.

Jaylen had a shocking setback when he was passed up for a coveted berth on the national team. Despite a stellar season with the Celtics, Brown’s omission from the final lineup raised eyebrows among fans.

Host Serena Williams was just one of many memorable moments at the 2024 ESPYs, which included a slew of honors and surprises. Among the A-listers, NBA sensation Jaylen Brown was the most radiant on the red carpet for NBA fans. On this memorable evening, he won the ESPY for Best Championship Performance.

Jaylen, who arrived at the event with WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, gave a speech after winning the award. While accepting his award, the 27-year-old star said, “Thank you to ESPN. Thank you to my teammates. My organization. My beautiful mother, who’s mad at me. God is the greatest of all time.”

Even though Brown was upset about not being chosen for the Paris Olympics, his ESPY’s Best Championship Performance win and his key part in the Celtics’ championship are still big accomplishments.

 

Jaylen Brown Edged Jayson Tatum as 2024 NBA Finals MVP

While leading the Boston Celtics to their 18th NBA Finals victory in 2024 against the Dallas Mavericks, Jaylen Brown was named the game’s Most Valuable Player ahead of his teammate Jayson Tatum. While Brown got seven of the eleven MVP votes, Tatum got the other four.

Jaylen was outstanding throughout Game 5, but his 15 points in the first half were particularly important as Boston built a dominating halftime lead of 67-46. With a 44% shooting percentage, Brown averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 boards, 5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in the Finals.

Tatum also had great stats – 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game on average—but Brown was chosen because he contributed to the team. He also proved his worth by earning the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP after defeating the Indiana Pacers. No player before him has ever won both honors in the same season, and he broke the record.
