Prince George’s eventful few weeks as future King celebrates 11th birthday after whirlwind year

Prince George, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ eldest child, is celebrating his 11th birthday on Monday after a whirlwind few weeks of public engagements saw him capture the heart of the nation

Prince George, the eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, is set to be the centre of attention today as he rings in his 11th birthday. The young Royal has had a whirlwind of experiences recently, having been spotted with his dad at Berlin’s Olympiastadion last weekend, where they rooted for England in the Euro 2024 final, only to see them defeated by Spain.

Adding to the excitement, Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, aged nine, accompanied their father to a Taylor Swift gig at Wembley Stadium in late June, marking Prince William’s 42nd birthday in style. The Royal siblings were snapped in high spirits, sharing a backstage moment with the pop icon, while Swift’s beau, American football star Travis Kelce, described the Royal youngsters as “an absolute delight”.

George, who is next in line after his father for the throne, also made an appearance with other royals on Buckingham Palace’s balcony during the King’s official birthday celebrations in June. This significant event marked the first public outing for his mother since she shared news of her cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.

Earlier on, George had joined his mother Kate, along with siblings Charlotte and the six year old Prince Louis, in a carriage procession down The Mall for the traditional Trooping the Colour ceremony. In another highlight, George and his father had the honour of presenting the FA Cup to manchester-united-fc>Manchester United at Wembley back in May.

During this prestigious event, the young prince confidently engaged in handshakes with the teams, exchanged pleasantries with Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola, and even had a brief chat with the legendary former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson post-match. William, who is the president of the Football Association and a fervent Aston Villa supporter, has taken George to several of the club’s matches this year, with the young prince often seen wearing the team’s scarf.

In April, they were spotted at Aston Villa’s match against Lille in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals – their first public appearance since the announcement of Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

Prince George Alexander Louis was born in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, at 4.24pm on July 22 2013, weighing 8lb 6oz. He made his first public appearance on the hospital steps one day later, swaddled in a white merino wool shawl, nestled in his mother’s arms.

If he follows the reigns of his grandfather, the King, and then his father, William, he will be the 43rd monarch since William the Conqueror to wear the crown.

George’s 10th birthday last year was celebrated with the release of an unseen picture taken by photographer Millie Pilkington.

Kensington Palace has not confirmed whether a new photograph will be released to commemorate his 11th birthday.
