Life is the biggest source of inspiration

Jon Bon Jovi, whose real name is John Francis Bongiovi Jr., was born in 1962 in New Jersey (USA). The boy with romantic gray eyes has been playing guitar and piano since childhood. At the age of 13, Jon wrote his “first” songs and began playing in a band.

In 1983, Jon formed the band Bon Jovi with David Bryan (keyboards), Alec John Such (bass), Richie Sambora (guitar) and Tico Torres (drums). Like many rock bands of the time, Jon spent his rough youth in New Jersey, struggling financially and skeptically of his ability to succeed, before being recognized by the rest of the world.

However, whether at the peak with the world’s biggest shows or local runways in the early days, Jon never stopped trying and practicing hard, both in terms of skills, health and creative thinking. His music is always full of inspiration and love for life. “Success doesn’t come easily. You have to work hard, never stop learning and never give up on your dreams” – Jon Bon Jovi shared.

In the midst of the explosive decades of rock music, the songs are a unique combination of hard rock, glam metal, a little more pop color, and the lyrics with many philosophies about life that Jon wrote soon conquered the audience. Along with that, the powerful and emotional voice and explosive performance style made Bon Jovi’s name one of the leading birds of that generation of rock music, and maintained the position for many years to come.

Sometimes, the imprints of loss, grief, and even the mistakes experienced are subtle in the music that Jon performs. But instead of drowning in suffering, he turned those experiences into passionate and intense vibes. Jon powerfully conveys messages of forgiveness, healing, and faith through passionate hard rock songs.

In an interview with the BBC, Jon shared: “For me, life is the biggest source of inspiration. I write about what I’ve experienced, what I’ve witnessed, and what I believe. I want my music to be able to touch the hearts of listeners and bring them joy, encouragement, as well as hope.”

For the leader of the world’s most illustrious band, music is not only a passion, but also a mission. He uses music to tell life stories, convey meaningful messages, and connect with the hearts of millions of Bon Jovi lovers.

Strength from faith

Thorny, rebellious and disruptive in music, but on the contrary, Jon’s life is full of peace, cordiality and calmness, in stark contrast to the noise of smoky rock shows. “I grew up in a Christian family, and faith is deeply ingrained in my flesh and blood,” Jon once confessed. “It is the moral foundation that helps me distinguish between right and wrong, good and bad and always direct me to positive things.”

Bon Jovi’s music, while not directly referring to religion, is imbued with universal values such as love, hope, forgiveness, and compassion. His immortal arena rock song: “Livin’ on a Prayer” expresses that deeply. The story of the couple Tommy and Gina (the names of the two characters, who are also two friends of Jon mentioned in the song), despite facing many difficulties, still tenaciously hold each other’s hands, like a powerful affirmation of belief in love and a bright future. “Tommy and Gina are the embodiment of faith,” Jon explains. “They never give up, always believing that love and will will help them overcome all challenges.”

Although he has reached the peak of music with his fame and huge fortune, Jon remains faithful to his wife of more than 40 years: Dorothea Hurley. They are together with all respect, love, and responsibility, like a romantic rock ballad, resounding and soaring high in every thunderstorm.

“Family is the most important thing for me. I can have everything in the world, but without my family, I will have nothing,” Jon affirmed. To his children, Jon has always been a dedicated, listening and sharing father. He often refuses important performances or events to spend time with his wife and children.

With deep faith and a sympathetic heart, when he first entered music or reached the top, Jon always quietly helped a lot of people, even though he rarely talked about it. Jon uses his music and influence to try to create positive changes in society, towards difficult and unfortunate lives.

In 2006, he founded the Soul Foundation, which supports hundreds of thousands of people living in poverty, homelessness, natural disasters, and diseases across the United States to have a better life. The Soul Kitchen restaurant he created over the past 13 years has also helped many people in need. Everyone who comes to Soul Kitchen does not have to pay for their meals, but can clean and take care of the farm together… And, not surprisingly, fans can always catch their idol – the rock star who has now been out for six weeks – participating in washing dishes with everyone, in casual clothes and bright smiles.

Besides the deep imprints on the history of world music, it is a romantic song that Jon is always ready to sing in real life, about kindness and unrelenting dedication. “Helping others is my way of showing my faith. I believe that each of us has a responsibility to make the world a better place” – his eyes lit up again, like a ghostly image of youth, with long hair flying to the soaring lyrics of the immortal Always: “I know when I die, you’ll be on my mind. And I’ll love you, always And I will love you forever)” has made many generations ecstatic…
