Jaylen Brown has grabbed the spotlight in the past few days for his comments on the USA men’s basketball team. After creating controversies on social media, the Celtics star refused to speak about it at a recent event.

Brown was attending the ESPYS awards with his date Kysre Gondrezick, a WNBA player. On being spotted, the swingman was halted for a quick interview. He was asked about his feelings for the USAB Team. Following Brown’s controversial take on the national team’s selection of Kawhi Leonard’s replacement, it was obvious that the question would pop up.

Brown asked the interviewer, Cam Newton, to clarify what he wanted to know, so the latter directly asked why Brown was not selected. Reluctant to answer the question, the 3-time All-Star said, “I ain’t really got no comment.” To divert the topic, he quickly added, “I’m with my beautiful date tonight.

The USAB management formed the team for the 2024 Paris Olympics without Brown. But he saw an opportunity to join them when the Clippers star Kawhi Leonard withdrew his name. To his surprise, they chose his teammate Derrick White instead of him. That’s when Brown pointed fingers at Nike, the official partner, for bringing up their infamous rivalry against him in the decision-making.

Jaylen Brown Adds to Accolades List at ESPY

Many felt Brown was not rewarded for his remarkable performances before going into the top tiers of the 2024 playoffs with the Boston Celtics. That narrative soon changed as he won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

On Thursday, he added another accolade to his cabinet. Brown won the ESPY award for Best Championship Performance.
