NBA followers are aware that the biggest New York Knicks fan is and will always be media mogul Spike Lee. During the Fanatics Fest, he expressed his support for the Knicks franchise and even energized the crowd with what he said about their longtime rival, the Boston Celtics.

Lee is one of the many Knicks fans who believes in what the team could achieve next season. He expressed it during his recent presser and even threw shade at their Eastern Conference rival.

The crowd went wild as they cheered Lee’s words against Boston and his prediction for the Knicks.

Despite being from Atlanta, Georgia, Lee has always considered New York as his home. He supported the local sports teams when he moved to the city to do his Masters in Fine Arts from the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. The Knicks are one of them and have a special place in his heart.

The fans were expecting their team to take on the Celtics during the 2024 playoffs, but injuries played a significant role in cutting their postseason run.

After Jayson Tatum and his group won the NBA title, New York started to make changes to their roster. They traded for Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in one of these moves.

New York Knicks star shared why he took less money for his contract extension

The New York Knicks are going all-in with the group that they have. During the summer, Jalen Brunson was eligible to sign a five-year, $269 million contract extension at the end of the 2024-25 season. However, he surprised fans by signing a four-year, $156.5 million deal.

Fans loved the way he handled his contract extension as the Knicks now have extra money to spare to strengthen their unit. In a clip posted by the podcast he hosts with teammate Josh Hart, Brunson shared the explanation of why he opted for less money.

“It’s kinda simple. I want to be here. I want to show that actions speak louder than just talking about stuff. I want this team to be together for a long time. I want to win here. That’s it,” Brunson said.

Last season, the Knicks had a great postseason run but injuries took over and it hindered them from reaching the conference finals.
