The funny situation happened in the men’s road cycling event at the 2024 Olympics. Halfway through the race, athlete Nils Politt (Germany) suddenly turned into the Cafe des 2 Moulin coffee shop. This move made many people feel confused because in the middle of a fierce race, why would an athlete have time to sip a cup of coffee?

It turned out that Politt entered the cafe just to borrow the restroom to “relieve himself”.
“I don’t know how much time it took me. When we compete, we drink a lot of water, eat a lot of nutritional gels, but usually it’s fine. But today, my stomach was a problem,” Politt shared.
When Politt entered the restaurant, he quickly received the attention of the customers there. Many cheers were sent to the German athlete.
Back in the race, Politt was in the lead for the first mile. However, the 30-year-old fell further and further behind. In the end, Politt finished 70th, nearly 20 minutes behind the champion.
