Đoković was free in the first round, while Yannick Hanfmann is waiting for him in the second today from 18:00.

Djokovic follows Nadal to early exit at Italian Open in first match after being hit by water bottle - Yahoo Sport

I must first thank the organizers, because I and my team felt welcome here. I know Geneva very well, I have relatives here whom I have visited several times in the past. I trained here, but I never played in a tournament,” Novak pointed out.

He explained why he decided to play in Geneva.

I feel that at this moment there is no better preparation for me than playing matches. I need more matches, one, two, three or hopefully four. It’s good for me and the right way to find my form for Roland Garros.”

He also recalled the incident from Rome, when a heavy bottle hit him in the head, which was one of the reasons for his weak performance in the third round of that Masters.

The head is fine. Everything is OK. I feel good, and we’ll see how it goes when the match starts. I worked with my old-new coach on stamina and physical strength to play three-set matches on the most demanding surface. I hope to have more than one match here in Geneva, that’s the goal. Then we will see what will happen in Paris,” stressed Djokovic.

The day before the interview with the press, the Serbian tennis player attended a football match between Servette and Young Boys.

My friend and godfather Neven Marković played for Servette, that’s when I saw him for the first time. Yesterday I came with the family that lives here, because my younger cousin is getting married to a football player of that club. That’s a relationship now and that’s why I support the club. It was a nice experience.”
