Richie Sambora Addresses The Lies About Him In Bon Jovi Documentary

Former Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora sat down with Guitar Player for a new interview. During the discussion about the Bon Jovi documentary, ‘Thank You, Goodnight,’ Sambora revealed the lies about him in the documentary. He said:

“That’s one of the other things that was reflected in the documentary: that people thought I was, what, a drunkard? Like I didn’t show up one day because I was high? That doesn’t make any sense to anybody. That’s an incongruency.”

Apparently, there was no communication between the two, thus the ‘lies’:

“There was obviously an amalgamation of a sh*tload of things over a 31-and-a-half- year period. We couldn’t talk at that point. We weren’t talking – we weren’t communicating. And I was like, ‘That means it’s stale.’”

Why Sambora Wasn’t Involved In The Documentary

Sambora was not involved in the documentary. In another interview, the guitarist said he had nothing to do with the band’s new documentary. He clarified:

“I had nothing to do with it really, except I work there but it wasn’t my perspective. It was one person’s perspective.”

Sambora also shared how he would have celebrated the band’s 40th anniversary instead of releasing a documentary:

“To me, the celebration of 40 years would have been how the songs affected the whole world because we did a pretty good job after doing it. We worked very hard. And the songs really got to people and communicated all over the world.”
