Jrue Holiday Reflects On Bucks Quitting On Him Amid Celtics Finals Run

Jrue Holiday was traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Portland Trail Blazers before the 2023-24 NBA season commenced.

Despite bringing a title to Milwaukee, Holiday was cast aside in favor of bringing Damian Lillard to town. His wife didn’t like that very much.

Shortly after he arrived in Portland, the Blazers promptly traded Holiday to the Boston Celtics.

In the season that followed, Holiday played an instrumental role in guiding Boston to this year’s NBA Finals.

Earlier this week, Holiday spoke to the media and reflected on how the Bucks treated him.

“I think that this was what was supposed to happen,” he said.

“I’m glad that I’m here and I’m glad that I’m in this moment. I would say [Celtics head coach] Joe [Mazulla] has talked about that a lot, especially this season, being in the moment and that’s what I’ve tried to do.

“I didn’t try to worry about the contracts, didn’t try to worry about any of that. It was so much about winning and why we’re at this point now.”

Holiday has been one of the NBA’s most respected players for a long time. His defensive tenacity, leadership and winning spirit has made him a favorite among his peers.

That is one of the reasons why Milwaukee opting to trade him was so shocking.

Clearly the Bucks lost that one – for this season, at least.

Will Holiday be able to finish his story on a perfect note and win a championship with the Celtics in 2024? An answer one way or the over is coming over the next few weeks.
