London has no shortage of tourist traps, but most of them are places you’d expect to find dozens of people flocking to each day — like Covent Garden, or M&M World (no, we still don’t get it either).
But there are a few unexpected locations across the city that have become a must-visit for a very different reason.
Over the years, various celebrities have name-dropped pubs, restaurants, shopping spots, streets, and parks in hit songs, sending British fans into a spin, and prompting people the world over to visit the locations in their droves.
Most recently, we’ve seen how a random pub in Vauxhall has become a hot spot for tourists thanks to Taylor Swift.
Those who’ve listened to her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, will know that the epic double anthology features a track called The Black Dog, in which the 34-year-old sings about an ex who forgot to turn their location off on their phone.

Swift recalls watching her smartphone as he walks ‘into some bar called The Black Dog’ and fans were thrilled to discover that the bar is in fact a real place, located at 112 Vauxhall Walk.
Since the album’s release on April 19, Swifties have been flocking to the pub to enjoy a drink (a vodka and diet Coke, which Taylor once said was her favourite) and to snap photos by the bar.
The Black Dog isn’t the only location in London that Taylor Swift fans have gone wild for in recent years though. The Fortnight singer previously name-checked a whole host of spots around the city in her song London Boy — including Brixton, Shoreditch, the West End, Highgate, and Bond Street.
And Taylor isn’t the only one to have turned a seemingly unassuming spot into the hottest place to be. Here’s a look at some of the other celebrity haunts that have gone on to become tourist traps…
Abbey Road

This one won’t surprise anyone, but the street in St John’s Wood became an iconic spot thanks to the Beatles, who named their 11th album after it in 1969.
The artwork for the album features the band walking on a zebra crossing, and many people have headed there to recreate the image with friends and family.
The road is also well-known for being the location of Abbey Road Studios, which was used by the Beatles to record music.
Berwick Street

This one feels like a little bit of a cheat, as Soho is generally well-known for having a rich musical history, from the recording studios located there to iconic jazz bars and clubs, and numerous record stores. But Berwick Street in particular became a spot for a photo op after Oasis popped it on the cover of their second album, (What’s the Story?) Morning Glory?
Warwick Avenue
In 2008 Welsh singer Duffy released the single Warwick Avenue and it was an instant, heartbreaking hit. We’re sure since then countless fans have taken the Bakerloo line to Warwick Avenue, only to get off and mooch about while listening to the singer crooning in their ears.
Latchmere Leisure Centre
If you’re a diehard fan of The Maccabees, at one point or another you’ll have ended up going for a swim at Latchmere Leisure Centre in Battersea. The band, who split up in 2015, hailed from South London and their debut album features the song Latchmere, an energetic but rather unexpected song about a swimming pool and its wave machine. They also featured the Michael Faraday Memorial in Elephant and Castle on the cover of their fourth studio album, Marks to Prove It.
The Duke of Wellington
In 2008 a BBC camera crew visited The Duke of Wellington on Portobello Road along with Adele. The Rolling in the Deep singer was there to explain why the pub was a fundamental part of her journey to superstardom.
She gave a tour of the pub, pointing out memorable spots from her younger years occured, including the table where she once sat while breaking up with her boyfriend via text. This same boyfriend was the inspiration for songs on her debut album, 19.
The Duke of Wellington is also where Adele signed her first record contract, and where she regularly had meetings with her band about touring.
A number of fans have visited the Notting Hill spot since then, wanting to follow in her footsteps.
The Hawley Arms

Camden is very much a tourist hotspot in its own right, but there’s one pub that often attracts a lot of attention, and that’s The Hawley Arms.
The pub is thought to have been Amy Winehouse’s favourite as she lived just around the corner from it. Her drink of choice was the ‘Rickasty’, a concoction featuring vodka, banana liquer, Southern Comfort and Baileys.
A number of other famous faces have also been known to visit the pub over the years, including Kate Moss, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ronson, and Noel Fielding.
Tragically, The Hawley Arms was decimated by a fire in February 2008 and many were unsure if the legendary venue would ever recover. But after a lot of fundraising support, the boozer was able to be salvaged and it reopened in October 2008.
