LeBron James Reacts To Bronny’s Poor Summer League Performance

LeBron James has been very vocal about Bronny’s entire basketball career up to this point. He talked a lot about it when his son was in high school. Then he did it again in college. And then he played an instrumental role in bringing the youngster to L.A.

When the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, there was little confusion regarding why the move was made.

This past weekend, Bronny made his summer league debut. The grade for how he performed speaks for itself. He ultimately went 2-of-9 from the field and showed little in the way of promise as far as this coming season goes.

After that Summer League game, LeBron James spoke at length about Bronny’s mindset right now.

“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny,” James said to. “He doesn’t care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in [as a rookie], I wanted people to like me and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. … He doesn’t give a f**k.

“He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s like the coolest. He’s like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bro does not care. … Everything that’s being said about him, he really does not care.”

While Bronny having that mentality is great, it still doesn’t address the elephant in the room – the fact that he doesn’t yet seem prepared to play basketball at an NBA level.

Maybe that will change going forward. But for now it is what it is.

How will this fascinating saga of Bronny trying to be an NBA player ultimately end when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
