While heaping praise on Nadal’s achievements, Maury pointed out that other greats of the game found it tough to win at Roland Garros.

Marc Maury thinks winning 14 French Open titles is more difficult than winning 24 Grand Slam titles, comparing the achievements of two of the greats of the game, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Maury is the man behind the microphone, known for introducing Nadal every time he enters the Philippe Chatrier court for his French Open matches. As Nadal enters the court, Maury summarizes in French all the times the Spaniard won in Paris.
He has seen the King of Clay lift title after title on the clay court of Paris and become a legend of the sport. While heaping praise on Nadal’s achievements, Maury pointed out that other greats of the game found it tough to win at Roland Garros.
I hope he comes back next year. It was a very special moment because it was perhaps the last time that I presented this absolute legend. For me, it is much more difficult to win Roland Garros 14 times than to win 24 Grand Slam tournaments. Djokovic’s record is complicated, but Nadal’s in Paris.Marc Maury (via Relevo)
The player who stands second with the most French Open titles in the Open Era is Bjorn Borg with six of them, while Djokovic, Mats Wilander, Ivan Lendl, and Gustavo Kuerton are third on the list with three French Open titles each. Nadal’s rival, Roger Federer could win the Roland Garros just one in 2009.
Marc Maury praises Rafael Nadal for being a good human
Marc Maury started working as a Roland Garros presenter in 2004, a year before Rafael Nadal won his first title in the tournament. However, Maury met Nadal in Monte Carlo, where he won his first ATP Masters 1000 title. The 66-year-old Frenchman praised the Spaniard for staying humble even after achieving so much in his career.

Rafa is a very simple and normal guy. He has never changed. Rafa knows almost everyone here, he comes and greets each one of them. When he wins, he comes to hug everyone.Marc Maury said
Nadal got knocked out of this year’s Roland Garros after losing in straight sets to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the first round. His last Grand Slam title win came in 2022 at Roland Garros where he defeated Casper Ruud to lift his historic 14th title.
The injury blow during the 2023 Australian Open hampered his progress as he ended up staying on the sidelines for the rest of the year. He finally made his comeback in the 2024 Brisbane International, but another injury made him miss more competitions. Then he played in the Barcelona Open and other clay-court events but failed to win a title.
